Angola, Chad exchange views on peace

Luanda – The strengthening of relations between Angola and Chad, and exchange of views on peace, stability and fight against terrorism in Africa, are high on the agenda for the minister of Infrastructure and Decentralisation, Adoum Younousmi, who began on Thursday a serious of meetings with Angolan officials.

The Chad official met on Thursday in Luanda with the Angolan Foreign minister, Georges Chikoti, with whom he discussed the matters mentioned above.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Adoum Younousmi announced that the issue of peace and stability are in the highest interests of presidents Jose Eduardo dos Santos of Angola and Idriss Deby Itno of Chad.

He said that some of the above matters had been dealt with more broadly by Angolan and Chadian statesmen, seeking solutions.

According to the visiting official, the parties also discussed issues concerning the Lake Chad, Libya, Boko Haram and his country’s borders.

Adoum Younousmi said as well that he came to Angola to thank the local authorities for their support for the election of the Chadian Foreign minister to the post of chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission.

Minister Adoum Younousmi arrived in Angola on Wednesday as Chadian president’s special envoy.

He is the bearer of a letter from president Idriss Deby Itno to his Angolan counterpart, Jose Eduardo dos Santos.
