Angola, Cabo Verde analyse police cooperation

Angolan minister of Interior Eugénio Laborinho Wednesday in Luanda described the cooperation relations in police field with Cabo Verde as excellent.

At the meeting with the Cabo Verdean Minister of Communities Jorge Maurício dos Santos, the minister said that the cooperation between the two countries’ institutions is based on eight legal instruments.

He mentioned the technical cooperation agreement on security issues and public order, signed on 28 July 2003, among others.

Eugénio Laborinho also referred to the memorandum of understanding between Angola’s Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Internal Administration of Cabo Verde, signed on 21 March 2012 in Praia.

The leaders analysed cooperation in the field of training of specialists for the national police forces from the two States.

The Angolan official said the implementation of the above legal instruments have allowed the training for the Police of Cabo Verde.

The training features areas of specialties, preventing and combat crime, sharing information and experience, including the exchange of delegations.

He referred to the ten police officers from Cabo Verde, who he said are currently attending a degree course at the Higher Institute of Police and Criminal Sciences Osvaldo Serra Van-Dúnem.

Eugénio Laborinho informed the Cabo Verdean minister of the existence, in Angola of 4,851 Cabo Verdean citizens.

He stressed that of this number, 43 hold a work visa, 68 have a temporary stay visa, 4,723 a residence permit and 17 are students.

In his turn, the Cabo Verdean official stressed Angola’s role in the CPLP, considering it a strategic partner for Cabo Verde.
