Angola and France discuss parliamentary cooperation

Luanda – The strengthening of cooperation between the parliamentary organs of Angola and France was discussed Wednesday in Luanda, during an audience the National Assembly speaker, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, granted to the French ambassador, Silvain Itte.

Speaking to journalists at the end of the audience, Silvain Ittee, who started mission in Angola in November last year, the purpose is to take advantage of the renewal of the two countries’ parliaments, following the forthcoming elections in both nations this year, to launch a cooperation.

The diplomat said that currently the economic, political and strategic relations are very rich and France considers that Angola has a very relevant role to play in southern Africa and in the continent in general.

He stated that the dialogue between both governments is good and he would like to have them good between the parliaments, through joint sessions enabling MPs and senators to exchange ideas.

The French ambassador said that his country with 70 companies operating in Angola is also interested to participate in Angola’s ongoing economy diversification process, chiefly in the agricultural and agro-farming sectors.
