Angola and Egypt assess bilateral cooperation

Minister Chikoti arrived on Saturday in the capital of Egypt to participate this Monday in a meeting organized by the local authorities, dedicated to the Great Lakes Region.

According to a press release from the Angolan Embassy in Egypt, the two speakers also addressed the situation in the Middle East, the phenomenon of international terrorism and the consultation of positions on the current situation in the Great Lakes Region.

During the meeting, the two ministers also discussed the details of the preparations for the first official visit by Egyptian diplomat to Angola scheduled for the coming months.

Minister Georges Chikoti is also Chairperson of the Interministerial Committee of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).

Although it is not a member state of ICGLR, Egypt is welcoming the meeting because this country has been very attentive to the situation prevailing in this region.

Monday’s workshop is taking place under the theme “Towards a More Effective Collective Response to the Threats of Peace and Security in this Region”.

The ICGLR is grouped by Angola, Burundi, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda And Zambia.
