Angola and Cuba hold Bilateral Commission session

The Angolan delegation to the meeting is headed by the minister and head of the Civil Affairs Office to the President of the Republic, Manuel da Cruz Neto, and includes the ministers of Higher Education and Health, AdAPound o Gaspar do Nascimento and Luis Gomes Sambo, respectively.

The secretaries of State for Cooperation and Treasury, A�ngela Braganca and Mario Ferreira do Nascimento, respectively, are part of the Angolan delegation.

The team includes the secretary for Diplomatic and International Cooperation to the president of the Republic, Carlos Alberto Fonseca, and others.

On the Cuban side, the Bilateral Commission is headed by the vice president of the Council of Minister, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, and is accompanied by high ranking officials of the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade, Health, Culture, Social Communication, Science , Technollgy, Environment, Oil and a representative of the firm Antex S.A.

The Angola/Cuba Bilateral Cooperation Commission was established in 1976, based on the two countries’ General Cooperation Accord.

The 12th session of the organ was held from 20-24 February 2006, in Havana, during which the parties agreed to diversify and increment existing cooperation.

The two countries have been exchanging working visits to monitor the state of the relations.

The Angolan head of State , Jose Eduardo dos Santos, last visited Cuban on 17 June 2014, just a month after the vice president of the Cuban Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, had been to Angola.

In 2015, the first vice president of the Cuban Councils of State and minister, Miguel Diaz-Canel BermA�dez, visited Angola from 16 -19 March , whereas the Angolan vice president, Manuel Domingos Vicente, stayed in Cuba from 17-20 May the same year.

The number of Cubans based in Angola in 2015 was estimated at four thousand technicians working in the sectors of health, education and others, as part of several bilateral cooperation accords.

Cuba has been contributing to the training of Angolans in several subjects at degree, masters and doctorate levels.
