Angola against violence and defends peaceful solution in DRC

Luanda – Angola condemned on Monday the acts of violence committed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and reiterated that the political dispute needs to be resolved through peaceful means.

This position was defended in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, by the Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia and permanent representative to the African Union, Arcanjo Maria do Nascimento.

According to the diplomat, who was speaking during an assessment meeting on DRC situation at AU headquarters, Angola will strictly monitor the transition process in progress in that country and work closely with stakeholders in order to find a peaceful solution for the deadlock.

He also enlightened that the political situation in DRC deeply concerns the Angolan government as it chairs the International Conference on Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).

The press note from the Angolan embassy in Ethiopia, which reached Angop, reads that the wave of violence that still undermines DRC continues causing damages and haunting the hope of the Congolese people of living in peace and build a prosperous nation.
