Afrobasket2017: Angola to face Cameroon in debut game

Luanda – The Angolan senior females National Basketball Team are starting this Friday their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afrobasket2017) against Cameroon, a continental championship to be disputed on 18-27 August in Bamako, Mali.

The two-time African champions, now coached by Jaime CovilhAPound , are seen as favourites in this Friday’s encounter, considering their potential and games history advantage between the two teams, although the Cameroonians are encouraged by the fact that they are the present vice champions.

After a short preparation programme in Brazil, where they played six friendly games, the national squad will certainly try to increase the number of victories they have over Cameroon.

In the last championship (Afrobasket2015) Angola ended up in the fourth position, after losing to Cameroon by 55-65.

In Afrobasket2017, the Angolan squad are in group A with Cameroon, CAte d’Ivoire, Tunisia and Mali.

Group B is made up by Senegal (defending champions), Nigeria, Egypt, Guinea, DR Congo and Mozambique.
