Burkina: Demonstrators call for justice reform

Citizen Watch called on Thursday in Ouagadougou for a reform of Burkinabè justice to align it with the ‘deep aspirations’ of the people.

A crowd of demonstrators walked the streets of the city of Ouagadougou to denounce the inadequacies of Burkinabe justice and demand that it be reformed.

According to one of the demonstrators, the decisions of the Burkinabe justice system do not fit with the socio-cultural realities of the country. According to him, the people do not feel involved in the decisions of the justice system.

‘The country is at war, while magistrates believe that this is not the case. We have the impression that we do not live in the same country,’ protested another.

According to him, the country has magistrates of integrity who must not let others tarnish the image of the institution.

While renewing their support for the Head of State Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the demonstrators invited justice actors to accompany the march for the reconquest and restoration of the territorial integrity of the
country.

The demonstrators handed over a platform of demands to justice.

Note that this demonstration takes place a few days after the exit of the inter-union of magistrates denouncing the requisition of magistrates for the front.
