African migrants to Europe mainly come from Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Guinea, report says

Ouagadougou: African candidates for immigration to Europe mainly come from Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Guinea, according to a report by UN organizations and the Mixed Migration Center.

The report highlights that terrorist crises and political instability in Sudan, Mali and Burkina Faso have also contributed to increasing the migratory flow towards Europe.

The number of people who died crossing the Sahara Desert is estimated at 1,180 between January 2020 and May 2024. This number is considered to be below the reality on the ground, according to the report.

The report, which focuses on land migration, recalls that migrants, in their adventure, are exposed to risks of kidnapping, sexual violence in addition to death.
