Ouagadougou: Burkinabè judoka Carmel Koné was beaten on Wednesday by ippon at the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the under 90 kg category, against South Korean Juyeop Han (24th in the world), we learned from media sources.

The judoka stallion Carmel Koné (82nd in the world) was no match for the South Korean Juyeop Han this Wednesday in Paris. The fight took place in 1mn 29 seconds before the South Korean achieved its ippon.

However, the Burkinabè athlete showed himself entertaining at the start of the fight. But the rush led the Burkinabè judoka to make mistakes, which earned him warnings from the judge.

With two penalties in quick succession, Carmel Koné was forced to take risks in order not to lose the fight. But faced with the agility and experience of Juyeop Han, the Burkinabè could only bend his back in a submission hold from the South Korean.
