33 COUNTRIES CONFIRM PARTICIPATION AT 2016 MAPUTO TRADE FAIR

Thirty-three countries have confirmed that they will take part in this year’s edition of the Maputo Trade Fair (FACIM), which takes place between Aug 29 and Sept 4. Three of these countries are participating for the first time.

The event will take place in parallel with the business forum of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).

There will be at least 700 foreign companies participating in the event, which is being held at Ricatla, in Marracuene district, about 30 kilometres north of the capital, Maputo.

There will be an increase in the number of national companies participating, up to 3,200 compared with 2,250 last year.

The director of FACIM, Octavio Francisco, expects more than 94,000 visitors will attend the event, up from 84,000 last year.

According to the weekly newspaper, Domingos, additional marquees will be put up to increase the exhibition space under canvas by 3,650 square metres to 33,650 sq metres.

Meanwhile, the Institute for Export Promotion (IPEX) says it has signed an agreement with the Maputo Municipal Bus Company (EMTPM) under which an executive bus will be available to transport exhibitors to Ricatla.
