2017 academic year memorandum discussed

Luanda – The Social Policy Commission of Cabinet Council Tuesday was briefed on the memorandum of preparation for 2017 School Year, during a session chaired by the vice president, Manuel Vicente.

The Commission identified the preparatory actions for the opening of the academic year on 31 January in the coastal province of Benguela.

The communique distributed to the press at the end of the meeting mentions some 2 million places as having been opened, with stress to 1.2 million for the grade one, 438,247 (grade seven) and 152,516 ( grade ten).

Still, under the new school year, the note quoted about 774 new primary schools, 221 secondary schools and 161 2nd cycle school are expected to operate, corresponding to a total of 13,872 classrooms.

As for the higher education, the document highlights that the Commission was informed about the regularisation process of the institutions and courses.

To this purpose, 108 graduate and 55 post-graduate courses have been regularised during the academic year of 2016.

The session also discussed the draft Presidential Decree approving the regulation on registration of acts related to copyright, while for the Ministry of Youth and Sports the Presidential Decree approves the regulation of sports missions.

Analysed were also the schedule of the inter-ministerial commission for the socioeconomic reintegration of Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland, as well as health issues, especially the response plan to control the cholera epidemic and the Zika virus.
