The AMMIE association wants to eradicate malaria in Yatenga


The association Moral, Material and Intellectual Support for Children (AMMIE) reaffirmed on August 13, 2024, its desire to eradicate malaria in the province of Yatenga where the disease is responsible for 30% of deaths.

Malaria remains a major danger to human health, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2022, in the Yatenga province, malaria was the cause of 43% of reasons for consultation, 60% of hospitalizations and 30% of deaths.

In 2023, the Ouahigouya health district recorded 235,246 cases of malaria, including 17,410 serious cases, unfortunately with 8 deaths.

Faced with this situation, the AMMIE association, with the support of its technical and financial partners such as Speak Up Africa and the Permanent Secretariat for the Fight against Malaria, reaffirmed its total commitment to putting an end to malaria in the province of Yatenga.

For the national coordinator of the AMMIE association, Cécile Beloum, ‘this workshop aims to inform, raise awareness and advocate for all public and private sector
companies in Burkina, with the aim of mobilize technical and financial resources to eradicate malaria in the Yatenga province and, in general, in the Northern region. We seek the support of all the sons and daughters of the Northern region and call on them to join forces in this fight to put an end to this scourge which often devastates our populations.’

For the occasion, three communications were presented to participants during the workshop: a communication on the general malaria situation in Burkina and in particular in the Northern region, the advocacy action plans of the AMMIE association in favor of the fight against malaria, and finally the motivations of the association to invest in this fight.

According to Madame Lallé/Diallo Aissétou, from the communications department of the Permanent Secretariat for the Fight against Malaria,: ‘the AMMIE association has been engaged in the fight against malaria for more than 20 years. Even today, she reaffirms her desire to eradicate this disease. We salute thei
r fight and assure them of our commitment to their side for victory.’

‘The AMMIE association has placed itself on the front line for the elimination of malaria in the province. We welcome the initiative and assure them of the full support of the authorities of the Yatenga province. We invite all participants to give their body and soul to achieve the objective of eradicating malaria,’ declared Pierre Claver Bancé, secretary general of the Yatenga province.
